  1. I hear a lot of fans complain about Martha’s story arc in general. I think a lot of fans forget that RTD said he specifically designed Martha’s character so that it took some time to warm up to her. He didn’t want to create a backlash against the new companion after Rose’s heartbreaking exit. So he deliberately made her into “NOT!Rose” so people would be less likely to see her as a threat to the memory of such a popular companion. I wish fans knew that and that they could appreciate that. IT WAS DELIBERATE.
