‘I really want to go back and watch Classic Who, but I keep putting it off because I’m actually legitimately scared I won’t like it as much.’
‘I love Doctor Who, all of it as a whole, it’s the best thing in the world but whereas New Who is like a good friend, Classic Who will always be my soul mate and where my heart belongs’
‘It saddens me that Classic Who is forgotten by most Whovians, it was such a wonderful era and the Doctors really did their part well, although i agree that new Doctors Matt, David and Christopher are amazing.. no one will truly compare to the works of people like Tom Baker.’
‘Last year, I decided to start watching the Classic Era episodes of Doctor Who to be a bit more of a fan. I prefer the likes of The Seeds of Doom and Remembrance of the Daleks more than some episodes from Series 6. Yet I can’t get into the 60s episodes, however hard I try’
The only thing that made me cry in the last series (save “The Doctor’s Wife”) was when we heard about the Brigadier in the finale. That crushed me. I’ve seen loads of episodes with him in them, and Nicholas Courtney was incredible. I miss him so much in the new episodes, alongside Lis Sladen.
I really want another american companion like Peri. As an American myself, I know I’d love to see this happen.
“I’ve noticed that the Seventh Doctor rolls his r’s a lot, and I’m not entirely sure whether it’s awesome or annoying yet.”
‘I’m a younger person (under the age of 25) and I grew up watching classic Doctor Who with my parents. Classic Who means alot to me because it was a large part of my childhood so I can’t help but greatly dislike when people who claim to be Whovians don’t have any idea that the show existed before 2005, let alone give the original generation a chance.’
‘When I think about how much I don’t like series 6, I remind myself that I still have nearly 690 classic episodes to watch. It makes me feel better immediately.’
‘I wish there was a way I could watch Marco Polo, it seems to me like a really good episode. Besides, knowing how much this episode changed and developed the series, it brakes my heart to know that it is completely lost.’
‘Can’t help but feel slightly jealous that Rory is always talked about as the Roman Centurion and how he waited for Amy. Ian Chesterton rocked that toga in 64 AD, became a galley slave and fought in the arena all in the hope to rescue Barbara (his true love, it’s canon) and he never had the Doctor’s help, the Doctor was too busy in saunas with Nero. Guess I’d like it if Ian got more acknowledgement because he’s the original Who male and he’s wonderful.’
‘Despite the movie’s sub par quality, Paul McGann will always be my Doctor - he leapt onto that screen and completely made it his in no time at all, and I love him for it.’
‘I think that Liz Shaw should’ve had more time on Doctor Who. Sure, she wasn’t the “perfect” companion, but I think that the fact that she was intelligent and understood The Doctor made her more interesting. I would’ve really liked to see more of her.’
‘I think Classic Series fans could be a lot nicer and more patient with New Series fans. You can’t expect us to know every single thing about the series when we’re only just starting out. Yes, we’re going to get things wrong or not know things. Most of us aren’t doing it on purpose or out of nastiness. So, we could do without all the mocking and condescension. Just correct us if we get it wrong. It would make your fandom a lot more welcoming to newcomers.’
